10 Ways to Save on Groceries

With the prices on the rise it’s very important to find ways to get more for your buck. Coupons are a great option to save money when shopping. Most people don’t have the time to keep up with coupons. There are ways to save at the grocery story without using coupons. Use these 10 easy tips, and you’ll see the savings right away.

Buy unpacked produce. Most of the time, it will cost more to get pre-packaged, washed, and/or cut fruits or vegetables. It’s cheaper to buy unwashed prepackaged produce.

Stock up on sales. When you find a great deal on an item, if at all possible, buy a little extra. Buy things that you know you’ll use, and won’t go bad before you can eat it.

Buy produce in season. Fresh produce in season is cheaper and more nutritious. Check out a local Farmer’s Market to find bargains.

Stick to your shopping list. Impulse shopping is not wise when trying to save. It tends to encourage overspending, and unnecessary items. A list will keep you to a plan and a general budget.

Don’t shop hungry. Appetite that is not controlled can lead to wanting unhealthy snacks, and wasteful spending. Shop on a full stomach and the urge to buy unhealthy snacks will be lessened.

Buy Gallon vs. Bottled Water. It’s cheaper to buy gallon jugs of water. Some stores will let you bring your used jugs and re-fill them with water.

Compare store brand products with name brands. Store brands are normally cheaper in price. Check the price per unit to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

Get bulk. Buying rice, beans, and other items in larger quantities can save you more. One bag of beans is cheaper than one can of beans. One box of precooked rice cost more than a bag of rice. Wisely prepared food from scratch can be healthier. Especially when using healthy ingredients and less sodium.

Hopefully these 10 ways will help you save at the grocery store. I would love to know if you found these tips useful. Please leave a comment sharing other ways you save at the grocery store.
