How to Have Courage
There are moments that I feel hopeless and making no progress. The trials of life have a way of holding a self reflecting mirror before my face. Unapologetically exposing every detail of my flaws, insecurities, and fears. It's not easy stepping out of my comfort zone to do something different and new. Fear is not the only thing that keeps me from moving forward. It is fear's companion, Procrastination. Shamefully admitting that I have entertained their company. The saying states, "you are the company you keep." Together we have been lazy, gave up, and stopped trying when an obstacle approached. Deep down in my innermost soul I don't want fear and procrastination to paralyze my courage; ultimately stunting my growth.
Being courageous is a mindset. In the scriptures, God commands us to have courage. Having courage is having faith and confidence in Him. With God's protection and guidance I can say with confidence, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13 Daily desiring to present my bodies (physical and spiritual) a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Him. This is my reasonable service. In order for me to live courageously I can't be conformed to this world: but I must be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Romans 12:1-2
Disciplining the mind to study, memorize, and apply scripture helps to put my trust in God. Being able to use scripture to conquer my fears, finding the courage to place one foot before another, and living a life full of courage builds confidence in the Lord. My abounding health journey has strengthened my relationship with God.
He strengthens my heart to be wise unto salvation. "That from a child though has known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:15. The truth of God received in the heart makes me wise to deal with the daily duties and trials of today. Tomorrow is not promised. There is only today. Today choose to get up earlier to spend time with God. Take a step to drink water. Then, take another step and exercises. Focusing on the distances of the journey can become overwhelming; even discouraging. Overcome the obstacles for today. Deny self when it want to be lazy, give up, and not try.
Upon awakening I say, "With God I have the courage to take one step at a time; one day at a time."
Have Faith to Take One Step! ...and another one ...and another one and...
Have a wonderful productive day in the Lord!
Love,
Precious Lowe
